Online Baby Poll

I thought it might be fun to do an online baby poll to see when everyone thought Gavin would make his appearance. Click on the button on the right to enter your guess!

A funny side note....

When I was setting up the poll, I asked Lonnie for his estimate. My husband makes me laugh. I asked for a date. Normal response. I asked for the time Gavin is born. Normal response. I asked for the weight. Normal response. I asked for the length.....his initial response: 8 inches! He thinks our baby is going to be 6 lbs. 11 oz. and only 8 inches long! Could you imagine what this child would like if he was almost 7 lbs and only 8 inches long!? I laughed so hard I started crying. After he heard how hard I was laughing, he responded, "I don't know how long babies normally are..." He then followed it up with "I thought maybe he'd be short and round like his mommy."

He's never going to live that one down.

Baby Shower!

My fellow pregnant friend, Dana, and my sister-in-law Jennifer, threw me an awesome baby shower on June 26th. With any good baby shower, you must have food and cake. And, I ate plenty of good food including bean dip and chicken wings. And, becuase it doesn't take much to distract me these days, I passed right on by the healthy stuff, like fruit, and went straight for the chicken wings and bean dip. What can I say, I'm pregnant. I can get away with it.

A baby shower wouldn't be complete without games. Apparently, some people thought I was much larger than I am (uh, thanks Emily).

All in all, Gavin racked up with lots of goodies!

A big, giant thank you to Dana for everything! I'm so glad I'm getting to experience this with someone else and I can't wait to return the favor!

Yikes!

I have a handy-dandy app for my phone that helps me keep track of how far along I am. I took a look at it today and freaked a little bit. Here's what it told me:

  • My baby is due on August 27.
  • I'm currently 30 weeks and 5 days along.
  • 9 weeks and 2 days remain until my due date.
  • The baby will be full term on August 6 (that's the 37 week mark)
  • 65 days remain until your due date
  • The baby will be full term in 44 days.

Yowza! It's amazing how the same information can kind of hit you differently. For example, August 27 seems so far away still, but when it tells me that I only have 65 days until my due date....that sounds different. Same information, but sounds completely different!

I guess I need to get my butt in gear and get ready for this baby. My nursery is semi-completed. I don't have any of the essentials yet (thank goodness my best friend Dana is throwing me a baby shower this weekend...woohoo!). My house is currently a disaster because my first trimester fatigue is back with a vengence.

Oh well. I'll be prepared when the time comes...well, as much as you can be I guess!

Sneak Peak....

Last Saturday, I met up with Nicole Faby from Nicole Faby Photography to do a maternity shoot at the Raleigh Little Theatre and Rose Garden. We met at 9:00 a.m. and it was hot already outside! Gotta love North Carolina summers. She posted a few preview pictures the other day so I thought I would share! They were taken at my 30 week mark.

Being a good little aunt and uncle, we babysat my cool little nephew Jacob yesterday. After watching the Backyardigans on TV we headed outside for a while.

Jake and Bailey found some rocks to stare at in the yard.

We tried to pick some apples off the tree, but we just couldn't reach them.

And, finally he played in the flower pot after I told him not to. This is his "you talking to me lady?" look. "How dare you tell me not to!"

This is one well-behaved kid though. I hope little Gavin is this easy-going.

Farewell

So, I was sitting at work yesterday and went to put lotion on my hands. As I always do, I went to take off my wedding rings. They've always been pretty snug, but O.M.G. They almost didn't come off! When I finally did manage to wiggle them off my finger, I had major indentations where they used to be. So, for now, farewell wedding rings. I'll see you in September. Now I feel naked.

Doctor Appointment

I went to the doctor today for my glucose screening test/regular appointment. Glucose screening = drinking a super sweet drink + getting blood drawn. I wouldn't say I have a fear of needles, I just don't care for them very much. Kind of like meetings on Friday afternoons. I'm not opposed, but I'd rather skip them and go home early.

Anyway, the doctor's appointment went good. I have gained 19 lbs so far (I guess the days where I couldn't gain any weight are long gone). Baby's heart beat was nice and strong. And, I was pretty much told that I'm SOL when it comes to this pain I've been having in my ribs. It's not the baby, but rather my liver, spleen and gallbladder. I kind of wished it was my baby in my ribs. Then, I could poke him until he got fed up and moved. Oh well.

I go back in three weeks for my next regular appointment and then I switch to bi-weekly appointments. O.M.G. Where has time gone? People don't start going to the doctor every two weeks until they are close to having the baby!! I feel way underprepared at this point ::sigh::
