Day 2: Photo Challenge

Taken at my baby shower last June

Day 2: A picture of someone you've been the closest with the longest

Ya’ll probably already know Dana over at Hancock Heir. She rocks. She keeps me sane at work. We met at work in 2003. We didn’t immediately click. Mainly because she hung out with the loser who slept at his desk (haha!) But she asked me if I wanted to go out to lunch one day and we’ve been friends ever since.

We’ve had doors slammed in our faces together.

We’ve shared many drunken Friday nights just sitting on my screened in porch until the wee hours of the morning.

We’ve griped and complained to each other over stupid stuff that we know we are being petty about.

We share an office at work.

We usually don’t even have to speak to know what each other is thinking.

We shared my husband for a while. (ha! Not in the weird way you are probably thinking. Dana was just as good at nagging my husband as I was so he coined her as his Wife #2).

We’ve been pregnant together and had our babies on the same day. At the same hospital. And no one was the least bit surprised about this. Except us :)

And we’ve been there for each other every step of the way.

Just visiting....

A couple weekends ago, we headed over to my brother's house for dinner. They have a son, Jacob, that just turned 2 in January.

He showed us that he's going to be a little baseball player. And, Gavin test drove Jacob's little car that he got for Christmas.

Jacob decided it was easier to push than to drive.....

My dad and my brother....like father, like son....beers in hand.

We had fun visiting with everyone and I hope to do it again soon!

Day 1: Photo Challenge!

I don't normally participate in challenges on my blog. Mainly because I'm using it as a baby book. But mainly cause I suck. But, when I found out about the 30 Photo Challenge that Elizabeth is doing, I figured why not!? I can't promise any of these pictures will be great or that I'll have witty little answers to go with them. Here goes nothing!

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with ten facts

Ten facts about me….

  1. I get super excited about office supplies. Pens, expo markers, folders, paper clips….you name it.

  2. I like being short. It makes me memorable…hahaha

  3. I eat 3 musketeer bars in an unusual way. I eat the chocolate first, then the “fluff” in the middle. It tastes better that way.

  4. I eat hot wings with a fork. I love spicy stuff, but not on my lips.

  5. I hate shopping but I love getting new clothes. Mainly because I can never find stuff that fits.

  6. Oysters remind of snot. Sorry for those oyster lovers!

  7. I cannot say the word testosterone. I’ve given up.

  8. I love hair products but I hate using them. I wish I could pull off the shaved head look on most days.

  9. Doing laundry is torturous to me. I don’t mind putting the clothes into the washer, but folding and putting away laundry is hell.

  10. I’m shy at first. It takes me a while to warm up to people.

6 Month Stats!

Gavin had his 6 month check up today. He got two shots and an oral vaccine. He must have been hungry because as soon as the nurse stuck the oral vaccine in his mouth, he sucked it down in no time! He took it like a pro! His shots on the other hand.....he did not like his shots today. He screamed bloody murder for about 5 minutes afterwards....he just screamed and cried and cried! It about broke my heart. Poor little stinker!

Weight: 15 lbs (10th percentile)
Height: 26 in (30th percentile)
Head: 43 cm (30th percentile)

He made major improvements with his growth this time. Still small of course, but he's heading in the right direction at least!

Oh, and my little boy has two teeth now! He cut them late last week. I've been trying to get a picture of them for a couple days but everything I try to pry his mouth open he sticks out his tongue and covers them up! Oh well. Maybe one day....

You are my Sunshine

We visited with Lonnie's parents this weekend and Gavin was in a good mood as usual. He's gotten to this stage where he's got to keep one eye on me at all times. If someone else is holding him, every so often he'll turn his head to look for me. So, Lonnie's mom was holding him and singing his favorite song, "You are my sunshine" (he always gets this great big smile when you start to sing that song) and you can see him in the video every so often tilting his head back to make sure I'm still there.

Spring Fever

Last weekend, the weather was gorgeous outside! So, we spread out a blanket in our yard and enjoyed the sunshine! I took the opportunity to play around with my camera settings and get some cute pictures of Gavin in the process.

Gavin's 1/2 Birthday

Happy 6 months to my cute little boy! These past 6 months have flown by. I couldn't have asked for a better baby. I spend every waking moment that I can snuggling, kissing, and playing with this little one. Here are just a few things that make my heart melt right now....
  • When he's sleepy, he rubs his eyes and I think it might just be the cutest thing.....EVER.
  • He smiles when he sees me.
  • He'll sleep a gazillion hours at a time if he's cuddled up next to me.
  • He holds my finger when he's going to sleep.

Yes, he's a total mama's boy.

What is he eating?

He's still getting breastmilk with a little bit of formula (sometimes 1-2 bottles a day). He's also been introduced to all Stage 1 foods. He loves the orange vegetables. He tolerates the green veggies. I make some of his baby food but not all of it. I've just started introducing Stage 2 foods. He usually gets about 2 oz of cereal/oatmeal in the morning with a little bit of fruit. For lunch, he usually gets 1/2 jar of veggies and 1/2 jar of fruits, and then he gets 1 oz of cereal/oatmeal, 1 oz of veggie and 1 oz of fruit for dinner.

What's he doing?

He's sitting really well now. He still topples over after a while, but we can sit him down and he'll stay for a while. He still loves his jumperoo - man, can he get that thing rockin'! He still hates tummy time, but I torture him at least once daily. He's usually good for about 5-10 minutes, but once all of his toys are out of his reach, he starts squealing. I've tried to let him just cry for a few minutes and see if he gets frustrated enough to roll to get something but it doesn't work. In the meantime, I'm ok with him staying in the same spot. He's also a babbling fool now! He's really picked up his babbling this past week. He has full conversations with his toys. Lonnie also swears he likes watching Carolina basketball. It doesn't hurt to keep letting him believe that :)

We took pictures outside this past weekend, so I'll have more pictures to post later this week!
